One injured in shooting on I-580 freeway in Carson City
UPDATE: Portions of I-580 in Carson City were closed briefly while investigators looked for evidence. The freeway was re-opened shortly before midnight.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating a vehicle that was reportedly shot at late Tuesday night on the I-580 freeway near College Parkway, injuring a passenger inside.
The incident was reported at around 10:40 p.m. and happened north of the College Parkway exit. The driver of the victim's vehicle, a red Ford Focus, drove the injured passenger to Carson Tahoe Hospital. The driver informed dispatch there were as many a four holes in the vehicle.
The 27-year-old male passenger suffered a gunshot wound to the hip and was being treated at Carson Tahoe Hospital, according to dispatch. Their condition is unknown at this time. It doesn't appear the injury is life threatening.
Meanwhile, minutes after the initial call, a reporting party (RP) told dispatch they had heard up to four gunshots adjacent to the freeway on Northgate Lane.
The suspect vehicle is described as a black Lexus or Chrysler sedan. Northbound traffic was shut down as of 11:10 p.m. on the I-580 Carson City Freeway northbound. Traffic is being diverted to another exit, according to dispatch.
Carson City Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol are investigating. In another matter that appears unrelated there was a report of gunfire in the area of Pheasant Drive at around 9:35 p.m. Deputies were unable to determine where the gunfire came from or if it was fireworks in the area. Fireworks had touched off a small brush fire earlier in the evening.
