DUI arrests, fights and domestic violence calls keep Carson City authorities busy overnight

Carson City authorities made four driving under the influence-related arrests and responded to a number of fights and domestic violence disputes overnight and into the early New Year's morning.

Revelry remained relatively calm until after midnight where deputies responded to a number of fights at various locations around town, said Carson City Patrol Captain Tom Crawford. There were no significant traffic issues or accidents, he added.

Officers responded to Carson-Tahoe Hospital after being called by staff regarding a stabbing that happened in Lyon County. Lyon County authorities are investigating the incident.

Of the DUI arrests, all were misdemeanor offenses and happened between the hours of 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. The Nevada Highway Patrol reported 14 DUI arrests in Northern Nevada from 7 p.m., Friday to 7 a.m. this morning, with two of the arrests being in Carson City.

Officers responded to three domestic violence calls and made three arrests, two of which were felonies.

A Carson City man faces a felony domestic battery charge after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the temple with a closed fist, knocking her unconscious.

Paul Lawrence Johnson Jr., 19, is being held on $13,000 bail after being arrested at about 7:10 on Friday in the neighborhood of Menlo and Ashby Court.

According to the arrest report, Johnson allegedly struck his girlfriend of six years, once in the right temple with his fist, "rendering her unconscious" the arrest report stated.

Johnson was located at Menlo and Ashby and taken into custody at which time a warrant for domestic battery was discovered. Johnson has two prior domestic violence calls on record.

In other arrests:

— Anthony Eugene Woolery, 42, of Silver Springs was arrested and faces a charge of second offense domestic battery after allegedly punching his girlfriend in the stomach.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Woodside at about 8 p.m. on Friday.

Authorities detained Woolery who was walking north on Woodside. As a deputy was getting out of his patrol unit, a second deputy told Woolery to keep his hands out of his pockets.

Woolery was placed into handcuffs and, on his own, began talking about the fight, the arrest report stated. He said that it was "bull****" and that he "didn't touch her and whatever she is saying is bull****," according to the arrest report.

Officers then went to the Woodside Drive address and spoke with the victim who said Woolery had come home from and a meeting and told her that he needed to go to Silver Springs to get his clothes and luggage.

The victim said she advised him not to break probation and told him that she wouldn't lie to a judge. When the victim began to write to the judge on her laptop, Woolery allegedly punched the back of her computer breaking the LCD screen, according to the arrest report.

The woman said that she and Woolery started to yell at each other and then she asked Woolery to leave. The woman said that she had been standing in front of her dresser, again asking him to leave. She said she got punched in her stomach three times knocking her into the dresser, hitting her back on the TV and VCR, the report stated.

The woman said that two children came into the room and Woolery got a few items and left the house. The woman didn't have any marks on her and she did complete a statement, according to the arrest report.
Woolery is being held on $8,000 bond.

— A Carson City woman faces misdemeanor charges of domestic battery, obstructing and resisting arrest with violence after she was arrested at about 1:30 this morning in the 3800 block of Carson Street.

According to the arrest report, officers were called after a casino security staff member advised the woman hit a man and then attempted to hit a casino floor manager.

The victim told authorities he was with his ex-girlfriend and that they got into an argument in the parking garage. The victim, who had observable injuries to his head and neck, said the woman grabbed his hair and hit him in the head, according to the arrest report.

The woman was arrested, handcuffed and taken into custody. Because the woman was severely intoxicated and emotionally unbalanced, an interview with her could not be conducted, the arrest report stated.

Instead, officers placed her into handcuffs, where her behavior became "unsavory and her demeanor unruly" the report stated. She was escorted to a patrol vehicle where she physically fought with deputies and spit on them.

The woman was transported to the hospital where she was checked and then taken to jail. While in jail she was uncooperative, fought with jail deputies and didn't comply with instructions. She was booked on the misdemeanor charges.
