Dayton Chamber awarded $3,000 in Room Tax Funds for 2023 Dayton Valley Days
The 34th Annual Dayton Valley Days will be held on Sept. 16-17, 2023 and at Wednesday's Room Tax Board meeting in Yerington, the Board awarded the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce $3,000 for advertising and promotional funds for the event.
The meeting was coordinated by Mr. Josh Foli, Lyon County Comptroller and facilitated by Erin Lopez, County Manager Executive Assistant.
Helaine Morres, Executive Director said "we are very grateful to the Room Tax Board for their support of our event. We are looking forward to a very successful Dayton Valley Days in September 2023."
Other groups that received funding were the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley, who received $19,000 for their successful Night in the Country festival; Fernley 4th of July - $9,000; Mason Valley BeeKeepers Workshop - $5,000; Lyon County Fair & Rodeo - $5,000; Yerington's Main Street Car Show - $4,000.

Room Tax Guidelines:
Transient Lodging Tax Section 4.02.05-B (County Code Ordinance 336, Chapter 2):
The County share of revenue from the transient lodging tax shall be used to advertise the resources of Lyon County related to tourism, including available accommodations, transportation, entertainment, natural resources and climate, and to promote special events related thereto.
What this means is that the only thing this Board may expend revenue from transient lodging tax for is advertising as defined by Section 4.02.05-B of the Lyon County Code.
To advertise the resources of Lyon County related to tourism (towns, state parks, museums, lakes, etc.)
To advertise available accommodations (hotel, motel, restaurants, etc.)
To advertise available transportation (bus, air, etc.)
To advertise entertainment events
To advertise natural resources, and climate
To advertise the promotion of special events related thereto
