Kit Carson Toastmasters celebrate 60 years, recognize leader for 50-year membership
Kit Carson Toastmasters Club 2299-39 hosted more than 40 guests and members at its 60th anniversary celebration in September at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. The public event showcased the organization’s service in Carson City by providing opportunities for members to improve their speaking and leadership skills.
“The Toastmasters program helps learners find their path to leadership by giving speeches, leading teams, and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere,” said Jean Perpich, President of the Kit Carson TM Club. “As our Club celebrates 60 years of service this year, we are very proud to have Distinguished Toastmaster Frank Taylor celebrating his 50th year as a leader in our organization.”
At the 60th anniversary celebration held on Sept. 19, Taylor was provided certificates of recognition from the offices of Governor Brian Sandoval, Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell, Senator Dean Heller, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, and Congressman Mark Amodei. Taylor was also presented with an American flag that was flown over the U.S. capitol building, which he then donated to KCTM to be used when the Pledge of Allegiance is recited at the start of each meeting.
“Thank you all for your attendance and efforts in making the celebration of KCTM’s 60th anniversary bash a huge success,” said Taylor, who joined Kit Carson Toastmasters Club in 1967. “Let’s continue on as a great club.”
The event also featured past-president Jim Klipp as the evening’s Toastmaster, and welcomed featured speakers Donny Crandell and Russ Steele who delighted guests with speeches that highlighted their well-honed Toastmastering skills. A lively round of Table Topics closed out the celebration.
