National Powerhouse Western Nevada Baseball Continues to Pump More Talent to the NCAA Division I Ranks
Western Nevada College Baseball continues to add players to the NCAA Division I ranks. Three more players have signed letters of intent. DJ Peters, Josh Mill, and Matt Young have added their names to the long list of players to move on in Wildcats history.
DJ Peters: DJ has signed a letter of intent to attend Cal State Fullerton next fall and play baseball at one of the most successful programs in NCAA history. Peters graduated from Glendora High School in Glendora, California in 2014. Peters was drafted by the Chicago Cubs that summer but decided to go to college in Carson City. In Peters’ first season with the Wildcats he was a very important piece of the offense with a .340 average, 68 hits, 12 doubles, 4 triples, 7 home runs, and driving in 39 RBI’s. This summer he was again drafted this time by the Texas Rangers but has decided to play again for DJ Whittemore and the National Powerhouse program at Western Nevada as they pursue their first National Championship in what is slated to be the final season for the program in 2016.
Josh Mill: Josh has signed his intent to play for Cal State Northridge in the fall of 2016. Mill graduated from Rancho High School in Las Vegas. Mill will be a very important part of the Wildcats’ pitching staff in the 2016 season with a lot of pitchers moving on from the 2015 season. Mill will look to take the Wildcats to Grand Junction, Colorado for the fourth time in school history and first time since 2012.
Matt Young: Matt has decided to join his hometown university by signing a letter yesterday to join the University of Nevada. Young who graduated from Reno High School was an integral part of the Wildcats’ pitching staff last season. Young led the team in wins with eight and he also threw the most innings with 92 2/3. That wasn’t all, Young was a nightmare for the opponents while they were at the plate. They were only able to hit a miniscule .195 batting average. Look for Young to lead the WNC pitching staff this year to a SWAC crown.
These three players are great young men and will be anchors to the 2016 WNC Baseball team’s success. This WNC team has a chance to make history this upcoming season and it would not be possible without these players mentioned above. The season starts January 29th right here in Carson City.
The numbers don’t lie, WNC Baseball continues to pump out great talent that moves onto the highest levels in baseball.
The community needs to come out and witness history. This is your team Carson City. They play 100% everyday for you.
