Scandinavian Festival coming this Saturday to Carson City
The 12th Annual Scandinavian Festival brings the rich traditions of Norwegian history and culture to Carson City on Saturday, Oct 12. Demonstrations of traditional food and music along with examples of the traditional “Bunad” clothing.
Great baked goods and the classic Norwegian open-faced sandwiches are among the fair for lunch. Traditional Nordic music will be performed the Carson City Symphony Youth Strings.
Exhibits on Nordic art, craft, literature, etc, also include the Norwegian “rosemaling” art form, the making of Norwegian “lefse,” raffles, and more. The gift butikk features Scandinavian items and items representing Nordic culture. A genealogist will be available to provide guidance in researching ancestry.
Sponsored by the Queen Maud Lodge No. 42 of Daughters of Norway to promote interest in the Scandinavian Culture, history and language.
The annual Scandinavian Festival is at St. Paul’s Lutheran Family, 1201 Saliman Road, Carson City, Saturday, October 12, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
