Public Invited to Open House at Governor John Jones House in West Side Historic District
The restoration of the John Jones Governor’s House in Carson City is now complete! This one-of-a-kind house is well known in the West Side Historic District, mainly for its elaborate stick-and-ball architecture, brightly painted color scheme (purple), and two-story playhouse that appears to be straight out of a children’s fairytale.
Just two blocks from the current governor’s mansion, it was built in 1865 and was once home to Governor John Jones, the 8th governor of Nevada. We would like to thank the residents of Carson City, and the many visitors to the West Side Historic District, who have expressed thanks and appreciation over the past 27 months during the restoration.
Due to the overwhelming amount of interest in the home, the current owner, Jim Warren, would like to invite any and all to a public open house to be held on Saturday, September 17th from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
To show our appreciation there will be:
— Refreshments
— A square nail for the first 100 visitors
— Two “Guessing” contests
— A self-paced walking tour guide
— Friendly Family Members
Hope to see you there!
