Carson City Elks Lodge donates to FISH's Revitalization Program
On July 12, the Carson City Elks No. 2177 presented Friends In Service Helping, also known as FISH, with a check for $500, which acknowledges the positive work that FISH does in Carson City.
Funds will help toward their next step in their "Revitalization Program." This project started after the demolition on the old Whistle Stop Inn.
FISH plans to build a new 3-story apartment tower on Carson Street. The apartments are to be used to provide low to no-cost transitional housing for families that have the work experience, skills and aptitude to successfully take on technical training classes helping them move from minimal wages to meaningful careers.
FISH not only focuses on food, financial burdens, housing and coaching aspects, but also provides training classes for a technical certification in Healthcare, Construction Management, IT, advanced manufacturing, journeymen electrician, HVAC and CDL truck driving.
When family members get training beyond high school, their children and siblings can follow the study skills of the program's participants, providing a generational impact for them to succeed as well. Their entire family is revitalized as their self–esteem, skill level and goals increase.
This project is more than half way funded. If you want to help, please e-mail Jim@nvfish.com for naming support opportunities.
