Each year, thousands of homeless and at-risk children in our local communities return to school without the basic supplies they need.

Operation Backpack is able to provide thousands of backpacks, grade-specific school supplies, and a variety of support services to homeless, at-risk and foster children from Pre-school to High School levels throughout the Northern Nevada regions.

Keva Juice, through its stores and community relationships in Northern Nevada, is taking the lead to help provide children in need the necessary tools to start their school year. We believe that EVERY CHILD SHOULD START THEIR SCHOOL YEAR WITH A NEW FILLED BACKPACK!

To support 2019/2020 school year, specific Keva Juice locations will become drop-offs for community donations of backpacks and school supplies.

Furthermore, in partnership with SMG / Savor and the 1868 FC soccer team, Keva Juice will donate a percentage of specific proceeds toward supporting Operation Backpack for the 2019/2020 school year. Details of the program are below:

• Get 1/2 any smoothie by bringing in a new, unopened school supply off of the Washoe County School Supply list.
For every Facebook page new like (/kevajuice) or Instagram new follow (@kevajuicenevada) between July 1st and August 2nd will donate $1 to Operation Backpack.

• For every 1868 FC Smoothie that is sold Keva Juice will donate $1 towards Operation Backpack. The 1868 FC soccer team is also providing Buy 1 Get 1 Free ticket to every customer that purchases an 1868 FC smoothie.
For every Lake Tahoe Lemonade beverage or smoothie sold, we will donate 20% of the proceeds to operations backpack.

Details and drop-off locations can be more found on our website www.keva.com or Facebook page: facebook.com/kevajuice

With outside temperatures often in the 90s and above, internal car temperatures can reach anywhere from 114 degrees after 10 minutes, to 140 degrees after an hour. Cracking a window often does nothing at all as rolling down the windows has been shown to have little effect on the temperature inside a car, according to the Humane Society of the U.S.

Today I started pruning out the water sprouts in my four crabapple trees. Some people might call these “suckers,” but suckers grow up from the bottom of the trunk and water sprouts grow in the upper parts of the tree. I have been training three of these trees into a somewhat flattened umbrella shape for almost 20 years. The water sprouts just ruin that effect. So, out they come.
