Park Ranger-Led Program presents Black Light Scorpion Searches July 1 and 29
Every month, the Carson City Park Rangers offer various Ranger-Led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun, events, and exciting adventures. All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many Carson City parks and open space areas.
Junior Park Ranger Scorpion Search
Grab your Jr Ranger Adventure Guide and join the Carson City Park Rangers for an exciting Scorpion Search adventure. You will be given a black light and a Park Ranger to go find all the scorpions you can find! They glow under the black light which makes this activity unlike anything you've done before.
Since this is a Jr Ranger Program, only kids will need to be registered online. Adults do not need to register ahead of time, if they choose to participate, they can fill out a waiver at the event.
The activity is considered "More Difficult" under the IMBA Trail Rating system. Expect uneven terrain, rocks, and sandy sections under the night sky. You will be traveling off trail, so also expect some unmanaged terrain. Black lights will be provided, so all you need to bring is water, close-toed shoes, layers, and an excitement for scorpions! Dress in your best black light attire to make your team stand out!
Date: Saturday, July 1, 2023
Time: 8:30pm - 9:30pm
Location: Wild Horse Trail located at the North end of Centennial Park.
