Carson City cat haven announced as Campagni Cares’ donation recipient
The March Campagni Cares' recipient has been announced and it is the popular Carson City cat rescue center, Catmandu.
Catmandu has been serving the local feline and human communities since 2014, when Linda “Momcat” Buchanan, saw a need in the community. “I learned there were virtually no resources for cats in Carson City,” says the now Executive Director. “I realized someone should do something, so why not me?”
Buchanan immediately took action to create a safe haven for local cats in need. Relying fully on the support of local donors, Catmandu is a cage-free center, allowing the cats to roam as their instincts intend.
“Unfortunately, cats don’t do well in confinement. It creates a very high stress environment for them, and many have already faced difficult lives by the time we intake them,” says Buchanan. “Our home-like environment makes it easier for cats to transition from the shelter into their new home.”
The nominations for Catmandu were overwhelming, with hundreds of community members nominating them in one week.
“Clearly the community support for Catmandu and their work is something people are well-versed with locally. We are excited for the opportunity to learn about their mission and be able to help them with a $1,500 donation,” says General Manager of Carson City Toyota, Jeff Campagni.
Kitten season is upon us, increasing the demand on safe, caring shelters like Catmandu. Right now, both kitten and senior cat supplies are in high demand. If you’d like to donate to Catmandu or to learn more about their programs and offerings, please visit www.catmanducc.org.
Don’t forget, each and every month throughout 2021, the group at Carson City Toyota will select a nominated charity to donate money to and feature in a community spotlight.
