Carson City Kiwanis past president answers the question: What is Kiwanis?
What is Kiwanis? Carson City Kiwanis is a group of local individuals who gather together and volunteer for the betterment of Carson City. Carson City Kiwanis was established in 1959 by a group of small business owners. We began our tradition of leadership in community service and monetary donations to organizations who served children, youth, the elderly and the disabled.
Today, Carson City Kiwanis offers opportunity for leadership and involvement in the improvement of our community. We sponsor the Carson High School Key Club and their events. We also offer scholarships to upcoming graduates in both post-secondary education and trade school.
Join one of our upcoming meetings to find out more about our organization and the fellowship that we have. Carson City Kiwanis meets each Thursday, (with the exception of major holidays), at Black Bear Diner, noon to 1 p.m. inside of Max Casino. Bring a friend, enjoy a handshake, and listen to one of our weekly speakers. There is no obligation to join, but count on an invitation.
