Agencies launch ‘I Am Carson River Watershed’ campaign
CARSON CITY — Did you know you live in a watershed? Everyone does. The "I Am Carson River Watershed" campaign aims to connect our community to the watershed they live in and provide a few easy-to-do actions that can help keep our water healthy.
Go to Iamcarsonriver.org and take a walk through the watershed where in just over two minutes, former KTVN news anchor Vanessa Vancour showcases over twenty-four popular, local locations that make up the Carson River watershed. You can also watch the video here.
In addition to the film; 30,000 campaign logo stickers are being mailed to Carson River Watershed residents in their water bills. The back of the sticker includes simple actions you can take to improve water quality. Look for your free sticker in the mail or pick one up at participating organizations and businesses throughout the watershed!.
“We’re excited to work with NEON Agency to launch the ‘I Am Carson River Watershed’ campaign,” said Brenda Hunt, Program Manager of the Carson Water Subconservancy District. “We surveyed our watershed community and found the majority of residents didn’t know they lived in a watershed and didn’t think their actions affected its health. This film celebrates the natural wonder of the watershed, and in doing so, educates individuals in our community on how to take action to improve its health and water quality”.
Your Actions Matter. Please share IAMCARSONRIVER.ORG widely, display your sticker proudly, and implement one or all of the simple actions discussed in the film, because “I am Carson River Watershed, and YOU ARE TOO!”
The campaign is funded through Clean Water Act 319(h) funds with support from NDEP and CWSD.
