Robert Burke Presents 'The Mountain Man' at Feb. 17 Carson City Leisure Hour Club
Members of the Carson City Leisure Hour Club will hear about the exploits of 'The Mountain Man' at their dinner meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The session will be presented by retired California State Park Ranger, Robert Burke.
A California State Park Ranger for more than 30 years, Burke will present a session on the story of "The Mountain Man." Guests will find out who the mountain man was; why he went to the mountains, when he went into the mountains and how he survived.
Mr. Burke is currently retired and living in Washoe Valley. He attended Humboldt State University and received a BS degree in Wildlife Management with a minor in biology. For the next 30 years, he worked as a California State Park Ranger with 25 of those years at Lake Tahoe (Emerald Bay SP, D.L. Bliss SP and Sugar Pine Point SP). He has been retired for about 12 years and has been "living the dream" in Northern Nevada.
If you would like to attend this event, please call Dorothy Link at (775) 885-2542 no later than Thursday, February 11 to make your reservation. The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6:30 in the Carson Nugget Capitol Ballroom. Reservations for dinner are required.
The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously operating social organization. Continuing to celebrate its 118th year, the organization continues to focus on its goal of promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music and literature.
