Antarctica and the Southern Ocean Presentation to Leisure Hour Club
Long-time Carson City residents Patrick Pevey and Carol Grenier will share their experiences traveling to Antarctica with members of the Carson City Leisure Hour Club on Wednesday, January 21.
As residents of Carson City for 30 years and having worked for the State of Nevada (Pevey) and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (Grenier), both are relatively recent retirees. Now with more time to travel, they are pursuing their hobby of nature photography. Their previous travels have taken them around the western United States and Alaska, and to Africa, Iceland, Norway, Peru, Ecuador, and Patagonia. They have visited Antarctica three times, enjoying the opportunity to see the abundant wildlife and stunning scenery.
If you would like to attend this event, please call Dorothy Link at (775) 885-2542 no later than Saturday, January 17 to make your reservation. The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6:30 in the Carson Nugget Capitol Ballroom. Reservations for dinner are required.
The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously operating social organization. Now celebrating its 118th year, the organization continues to focus on its goal of promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music and literature.
