Pets of the Homeless Free Wellness Clinic

The event is Saturday, May 21, 2016 beginning at 9 a.m. at FISH, 138 East Long St., Carson City.

Carson City Supervisor Karen Abowd hosts monthly walkabout Friday

“I would ask everyone to come prepared to discuss their greatest concerns, as well as their ideas and solutions to the Walkabout,” she said. “Together, we always manage to find a positive way forward that improves Carson City, which at the end of the day is the purpose of governance.”

Carson City Rotary Brewfest to raise money for scholarships

Veterans, supporters march for suicide awareness
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sat, 05/07/2016 - 11:06amAngels' tears fell from heaven Saturday morning as dozens braved cool, wet conditions to participate in the second annual Veterans Suicide Awareness March, an event organized by the Western Nevada College Veterans Resource Center.
The march, a solemn one for those participating as well as anyone who has been affected by suicide, followed a 1.5-mile course from the Bully's parking lot at the corner of North Carson Street and West College Parkway up the hill to the Western Nevada College (WNC) campus.

Staff Sommelier Greg Psilopoulos said there are a lot of cowboys and ranch folks in Northwestern Nevada, and they carry the spirit of the West with them.
"It feels like we're still in the Old West here," he said.

This is the largest one day food drive in the nation, and helps local food banks stay stocked through the summer. All donations stay in the community in which they are collected.
