CARSON CITY — With the scheduled retirement of Superintendent Richard Stokes, set for June 2022, the Carson City School District and the Board of Trustees are reaching out to parents, families, staff and community members to provide essential feedback in a survey to help determine the most desirable characteristics in their search for the new, incoming superintendent.

The Nevada State Museum, Carson City, will mark its 80th anniversary Thursday, Oct. 28 at a lecture exploring the institution’s past. The Nevada Day Committee is simply hitting the rewind button for this year’s event, so if you missed it last year, among everything else you missed, here is a recap: little did we know another historic milestone was about to take place.

The next Carson City School District School Board meeting will take place Tuesday, Oct. 26 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room within the Carson City Community Center.

Clark Scott Taylor, April 15th, 1968 - October 17th, 2021

Clark was born on April 15th, 1968 in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. He was born to Bonnie Kay Brown and Frank George Taylor.

He grew up in Carson City, where he graduated from Carson High School in 1986, and attended UC Monterey to study hospitality management, and trained under some of the best chefs in Nevada, broadening his naturally talented culinary skills as well as his ice carving artistry.

The Rotary Club of Carson City will step back in time at its next meeting when it explores the origins of recording devices. The meeting takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service in Reno issued a Flood Warning on Sunday afternoon for western Carson City, Douglas County, northern Lyon County, Storey County, southern Washoe County, western Churchill County, southwestern Pershing County in Nevada and Alpine, El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Plumas and Sierra county in northern California.
