The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner said Monday that Anna Scott, 23, whose body was found inside a burned vehicle on I-580 south of Reno on the morning of Feb 3., died of a gunshot wound.

UPDATE 9:34 a.m. The gas line has been clamped, according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief. The scene has been turned over to Southwest Gas and the area is clear.

Carson City Fire Department was called Monday morning to a gas leak in the area of Elizabeth and West Robinson Street.
The gas leak, reported at 8:46 a.m., is from a 2-inch main, according to a CCFD battalion chief. Southwest Gas has been called. Nearby residences have been evacuated and traffic in the area has been closed. Motorists should avoid the area.

Wilber Ernesto Martinez Guzman has been sentenced for a slew of convictions following his 2019 murder spree around northern Nevada.

Guzman was sentenced to an additional 214 years on top of his four lifetime terms last week, including 54 years related to robbery charges in Carson City stemming from the murder scenes.

The Nevada Native Seed Partnership (NNSP) will host the sixth annual Nevada Native Seed Forum on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fallon Convention Center and includes an option to attend virtually. On February 24, 2022, I grumbled because I had to pay $3.659/per gallon to fill my fuel tank in my pickup, then on March 2nd, I was even more disgusted at having to pay $3.749/per gallon to top fill up again. Now today, March 4th, - just 2 days later - I am angry that the price of fuel has jumped more to more than $4.799 for fuel.

Caltrans District 3 has been working through the night after a giant boulder crashed down upon US Highway 50 Thursday evening near Echo Summit.

As of 12:22 p.m., the highway is still closed as rubble continues to be cleared.

UPDATE 11:21 a.m.: According to Carson City Dispatch the driver of the bulldozer is being reported as deceased.

OSHA is being contacted as the victim was on a job site at the time of the accident.

Just after 11 a.m. on Friday, Care Flight was ordered to respond to an accident off Brunswick Canyon near Deer Run Road.

Dr. Edmond Pierczynski, long-time Washoe Valley resident, passed away at the age of 86, at his home on March 2, 2022, with his family by his side.

Known affectionately as ‘Dr. Ed’ or ‘Dr. P.,’ Ed spent 26 years serving his community as a Family Practice physician. He was a member of the charter class of the University of Nevada, Reno, Medical School, and upon completing his internship and residency, he returned to Carson City to practice in 1976. Ed’s exceptional skill and empathy left an indelible impression on countless families in the area.

A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested on a felony charge of possession of a dangerous weapon by an incarcerated person after allegedly making a shank to protect himself while in custody at the Carson City Jail.
