Carson City’s newest multifamily project, The Marlette, broke ground Thursday afternoon with help from Kingbsarn Capital and Development, Mayor Lori Bagwell, city officials, and more.

The Marlette is a 140-unit, “garden-style” multi-family development that is pet friendly and eco-conscious, according to Kingsbarn President Phil Mader.

Author and railroad enthusiast, Ed Davis will be kicking off the The Great American Whistle Stop Book Tour (15-city, 30-day, 6,500-mile tour) at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City on Friday, April 1, 6 p.m.

English and math proficiencies and graduation rates in schools are dropping statewide, as well as closer to home, with 43 percent of Carson City students being English proficient, and only 26 percent being proficient in math, according to the Nevada Department of Education.

Additionally, Carson City has a chronic absenteeism rate of over 40 percent, significantly higher than statewide and regional numbers.

UPDATE Thursday from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office: The search continues for Naomi Iron who went missing on March 12, 2022 from the Fernley Walmart parking lot. Through the public's help, LCSO has identified the vehicle and the occupant(s) that appear in the Walmart video minutes before Naomi was abducted. The investigation continues.

A Carson City resident since 1968, James R. McGee passed away at home on March17, 2022 after a brief illness surrounded by family at the age of 90.
