Eco and pet-friendly luxury apartments break ground Thursday in Carson City
Carson City’s newest multifamily project, The Marlette, broke ground Thursday afternoon with help from Kingbsarn Capital and Development, Mayor Lori Bagwell, city officials, and more.
The Marlette is a 140-unit, “garden-style” multi-family development that is pet friendly and eco-conscious, according to Kingsbarn President Phil Mader.
The apartment complex is being developed on a 6.1 acre site on the corner of Little Lane and Janas Way, and will feature 10 two-story buildings each containing 14 units, along with a 3,000 square-foot clubhouse, a fitness center, dog park and spa.
For outdoor recreation, the project includes a family playground, a swimming pool with cabanas, fire pit seating, and an outdoor kitchen for resident use.
Small to medium sized pets will be allowed, and will have their own dog park and pet spa.
“We find that within the renter demographic, pets are really important to a lot of people,” said Mader. “About 25 to 30 percent of the residents will have a dog or a cat. We want to offer a place where their pet is welcome. We think it’s part of this living experience.”
The project is also a “green build,” which Mader says is not only important to renters, but to the environment as a whole.
“We’re trying to create a lasting asset to the community. If we can offer a green product, it’s going to be superior to another product, and it’s going to be good for the environment,” said Mader. “The renters are looking for a more environmentally friendly solution to development so we’re pleased to offer it.”
Mayor Lori Bagwell said she was excited about the new project, and that Carson City needs more multifamily complexes to fill the need for housing within the community.
“It’s going to be a great relationship, I can feel it,” said Bagwell. “What’s so exciting for me is to see a (Las Vegas,) Nevada company expanding and to recognize that Carson City is a great location to do business, and that you can fulfill a need for us. We need more apartments in this community.”
The first units are expected to be completed in early 2023.
