A vehicle pursuit that began in Carson City this morning has ended two suspects detained.
The pursuit began in Carson City after 10 a.m. and went north into Washoe Valley before the suspect vehicle turned around at Davis Creek Park and headed south back toward Carson City. The vehicle was stopped near Lakeview on I-580 Freeway, according to police scanner traffic.

A traffic stop Thursday night led the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team to more than 10 pounds of marijuana and the arrests of two people.

Arrested were Derek Peterson, 24, and Maile Daugherty, 20, both of Carson City. Each face felony charges of possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and trafficking marijuana. Peterson also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding. His bail amount is $23,699. Daugherty's bail amount was set at $22,500.

On Thursday Jan. 29, 2015, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office conducted an “Alcohol Sale to Minors Compliance Check.” Of the 28 local businesses that were checked, four failed to fall into compliance.

UPDATE: A third person has been charged with open murder in the death of Alea Clark, Lyon County authorities said Friday. Patricia Baker, 40, of Silver Springs, has now also been charged with open murder, conspiracy to murder and destroying evidence.

UPDATE: Lyon County Sheriff Al McNeil said the body, presumed to be that of Alea Clark, was found Tuesday in the dry lake bed portion of Lake Lahontan State Park. He would not discuss the condition of the body but it is believed to be Clark. A forensic lab has been called. The family of Clark was contacted when the body was discovered, he said.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Nevada Division of Investigation, arrested Ryan Coddington, 36, of Silver Springs and Toni Hardin, 31, of Dayton, on suspicion of open murder in connection with the disappearance of Alea Clark who was reported missing by family members on January 9.

Nevada Humane Society Executive Director Kevin Ryan will be the featured guest speaker at the Carson City Chamber monthly Soup’s On! luncheon to be held at the Gold Dust West, Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 11:30 a.m.

Mayor Robert Crowell and other dignitaries gathered to officially cut the ribbon to announce the grand opening of Lake Tahoe Brewing Company on Wednesday evening. Owner Mike Candelaria is holding the scissors while manager Morgan Davis (left) holds on to the ribbon. The Brewery is located at 302 N. Carson Street, Carson City.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying these three persons of interest in a theft at the Famous Footwear Store located on Topsy Way in Carson City.

With snowpack in the Lake Tahoe Basin at low levels, the U.S. Forest Service is asking snowmobilers to shift their activities to locations with adequate snow coverage, within permitted snowmobile areas. Snowmobile operators should avoid bare dirt and patchy snow and should not ride across streams or over small trees or brush. Operating snowmobiles on too little snow creates ruts in the soil and crushes vegetation.
