The Carson Chamber Singers, a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, November 23, for the Holiday Treat Concert.

The rehearsal, directed by Ricky Hutton, will be 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the LDS Church, 411 N. Saliman Road in Carson City. Four rehearsals will follow, including two with orchestra.

Little Discoveries Early Learning Center of Minden has announced they have acquired Little Feet Daycare of Carson City, NV. The new location will be branded Small Wonders Early Learning Center, the original name of the Singer family company.

A motion to approve a $30,000 sign for the Marv Teixeira Pavilion at first failed during the Thursday Board of Supervisors Meeting, but was eventually adopted.

The sign will be placed at the top of the pavilion with individual, back-lit letters with an expense of up to $30,000 for both the sign and the electrical needed.

Leonard Weinberg, Emeritus Professor of Political Science at the University of Nevada-Reno will speak via Zoom at Monday's Democratic luncheon. Prof. Weinberg has served as a senior fellow at the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism in Oklahoma City and at the National Security Studies Center at the University of Haifa in Israel. On November 16, 2021 at 4:45 pm, a Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a vehicular pursuit in the Gardnerville Ranchos. The suspect fleeing from the deputy was Blake Edward Thacker, a 31-year-old male who was wanted by the State of Oregon for a felony parole violation.

Nevada Humanities is pleased to announce that Humanities Heart to Heart, a virtual essay program of Nevada Humanities, has won the 2021 Helen and Martin Schwartz Prize for outstanding public humanities programming conducted or supported by a state humanities council in 2020.
