Sunday December 26, at 12 PM, kids can craft their own festive Christmas wreaths and tree ornaments and enjoy delightful holiday treats at Kids Crafting at Hope Valley. The Crafting event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Wylder Hope Valley General Store, located 300 yds. east of Wylder Resort Hope Valley on CA Hwy 88. On Friday December 24 at 1pm, join us for an “Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration.” Listen to a reading of a collection of your favorite Holiday stories and lend your vocals to a singalong of popular Christmas Carols. The first reported case of Omicron in Northern Nevada has been confirmed in Washoe County according to the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory. Omicron was first detected in Nov. 2021 in South Africa and quickly spread across the world.

Members of Knights of Columbus Council 4781 in Carson City presented a check for $1123.44 to Donna Clark, Executive Director of Eagle Valley Children's Home, on Thursday, Dec. 16.

The Knights raised the money with donations from their Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities. Members of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic church gave the donation to support Eagle Valley Children's Home and Nevada Special Olympics.

CARSON CITY — The Carson High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program raised more than $5,000 for the local Angel Tree gift program. The number was significantly higher than last year’s total of $3,300. CHS NJROTC has raised money for the charity for the past five years.

With visibility less than a quarter mile in some areas around Reno, a freezing fog advisory is in effect for the Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley areas through 10 a.m. Monday morning.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board on Wednesday, Dec. 15 approved an update to a regional mitigation fee for new projects. The updated mobility mitigation fee will help offset new, in-basin vehicle trips with investments in traffic-reducing projects, the agency said. The update replaces an air quality mitigation fee that has been in place for decades without annual updates for inflation.

On December 17, 2021 at approximately 2:23 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a wanted subject in the area of Ironwood Dr and Pinewood Dr located in Minden, NV.

The suspect, Thomas James Meagher, a 24-year-old Gardnerville resident, was wanted by the Nevada Department of Parolee and Probation and considered “armed and dangerous.”

A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday morning in the 3400 block of Champion St. for felony possession of stolen property, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding a peace officer, failure to obey a traffic control device, and a warrant for a suspended sentence.
