CARSON CITY — According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s February 2020 economic report, employment in Nevada is down 1,000 jobs over the month but up 18,300 over the year, a growth rate of 1.3 percent. This marks the first time since July 2012 that Nevada has grown at a slower rate than the national average.

Light snow fell across parts of western Nevada and the northern Sierra overnight. The heaviest snow of several inches fell along the Sierra Front around Carson City and Minden, south of Reno and the Tahoe basin from Highway 50 south to Markleeville. Nevada’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has restricted the activities of many local businesses that aren’t considered “essential.” Realtors are among the list included in essential businesses, so are lenders, title companies, and banks.
