The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance with locating a missing person. Frank Figearo was last seen in mid-October 2020, leaving his motel room in Carson City, Nevada. Mr. Figearo allegedly told a neighbor he was traveling out of state for business.

The Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest's Bridgeport Ranger District remains closed to over-snow vehicles, like snowmobiles, due to lack of snow. Snow levels must meet the minimum requirement in order to open the area.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020 that there are 6 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. We are also reporting 104 new cases and 75 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 8,567, with 3,970 recoveries and 103 deaths; 4,494 cases remain active.

The man accused of shooting a Douglas County Sheriff's Office sergeant in Gardnerville late Sunday night was charged with attempted murder on Wednesday after appearing in front of a judge.

According to KRNV News 4, Nicholas Berreman, 22, and accomplice Kaela Mae Horse-Berreman appeared, virtually, in front of an East Fork Justice Court judge on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fernley Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to improving Fernley’s community facilities for the city’s residents, is commemorating the progress of the Fernley Community Campus project. The FCF announced the progress and acknowledge key players at a Media Day on Friday, December 18 outside of the William N. Pennington Fernley Complex.

Carson City-based DeBug Computer faced a Christmas challenge. Every year, the company hosts a Photos with Santa event with proceeds going to a local non-profit. The DeBug team huddled with Santa to discuss how to reach the children safely during the coronavirus pandemic. They decided to ask children, with their parents’ consent and supervision, to email a letter to Santa@debugcomputer.net.

A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Tuesday for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon and suspected drug offenses, a sheriff's deputy report states.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — As social restrictions continue in support of public health, risks associated with isolation permeate among the aging population. According to a Wells Fargo study conducted by The Harris Poll from Nov. 17-19 , a quarter (25%) of all seniors age 60 and above report feeling isolated and lonely, and over a third (43%) can go days without talking to others and spend most of their time alone.

This holiday season, The Salvation Army’s Del Oro Division, which covers Northern Nevada and Northern California, has raised $800,000 less with its iconic Red Kettle Campaign compared to last year. In 2019, the nonprofit brought in $2.4 million to support Christmas assistance and fund programs throughout the year. So far this year, The Salvation Army has brought in just over $1.6 million. With just two days left in the campaign, the nonprofit is asking those in the community who are able, to please give and support their neighbors in need.

When retired Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel learned about the late Sunday shooting of a Douglas County Sheriff's sergeant, he was compelled to design, build and put up a Christmas decoration that celebrates his fellow Nevada law enforcement officers.

A 33-year-old man was taken into custody Monday afternoon within minutes of being stopped after Carson City sheriff's officers were alerted that a vehicle was reported stolen from a gas station.

This evening was "The Great Conjunction" of Jupiter and Saturn. They started out low in the sky but were very visible. Photos were taken off of Pine Lane in north Carson City with a Nikon Coolpix P-1000, which has a substantial zoom. As an added bonus I just had to zoom into the moon and capture it as well.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Supreme Court Justice Mark Gibbons will be retiring from the Nevada Supreme Court in January 2021, capping a nearly 24-year career as a member of Nevada’s judiciary. Justice Gibbons was first elected to the Nevada Supreme Court in 2002, making him the longest serving of the high court’s current seven members.

Carson Tahoe Health has vaccinated 459 employees using the Pfizer vaccine we received last week. We just received 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine and will continue vaccinating our staff and providers Tuesday.

Early this year, Carson Tahoe Health began to pivot service lines and conserve personal protective equipment (PPE).

UPDATE: From the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Facebook page: On Dec. 20, 2020 at approximately 11:15 p.m. an officer Involved shooting occurred in Douglas County NV near Douglas Ave in Gardnerville, NV.

The incident is currently under investigations and no suspects are outstanding. The Suspect is currently being treated at the hospital for injuries. Highway 395/Gillman to Waterloo remain closed. The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to please avoid the area. More information will be released when it becomes available.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office will be the lead investigation agency, as protocol for officer involved shootings to have an outside agency investigate, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. There are two suspects who were in a vehicle, a male and female, who were involved in the incident. Both are in custody, said Furlong. The condition of the injured officer is unknown at this time.

YERINGTON, Nev. — The Lyon County Sheriff's Office wants area residents to be aware that the Sheriff's Office has received calls about a phone scam in which the scammers impersonate Sheriff's Office personnel to fraudulently obtain money from innocent victims.

National Wreaths Across America Day, celebrated at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City on Saturday, Dec. 19, honored veterans by placing wreaths on headstones and markers at over 1,200 locations throughout the U.S. and abroad to those who served our country.

The Rotary Club of Carson City is helping spread holiday cheer to many Carson City families this holiday season. This week club members donated $2,650 to the Salvation Army serving Carson City and Douglas County.
