Rotary Club of Carson City Help Local Families During the Holidays
The Rotary Club of Carson City is helping spread holiday cheer to many Carson City families this holiday season. This week club members donated $2,650 to the Salvation Army serving Carson City and Douglas County.
The money will help 25 families celebrate the holidays and provide gifts for children. Salvation Army Donor Relations Director Donna Ruiz says the donation is especially appreciated this year “With record unemployment we have seen the need for help increase 240 percent this year. This donation will go a long way in helping families.”
This is the 7th year that Rotarians have collaborated with the Salvation Army to help during the holidays. “In past years our club has adopted 25 families selected by the Salvation Army and hosted a shopping event with the children, but with COVID-19 restrictions in place, we felt this was a better way to donate,” says Club President Rachelle Resnick. “We are happy that we are still able to help the Salvation Army make the holidays a little brighter for local families.”
