Carson City residents are supporting their community by shopping local this holiday season
COVID-19 has devestated small businesses around the country, especially those that rely on foot traffic as a means of getting people through the door. But as people work to protect their health by staying indoors and ordering online, small businesses tend to suffer. However, in Carson City, the community response has been strong this holiday season, and shoppers have been taking advantage of both in-person shopping as well as online shopping through local vendors.
According to Mike Riggs, President of the Downtown Business Association, there has been a strong response to shopping local at downtown businesses. The community has come out to make sure small businesses stay afloat by purchasing their holiday gifts from downtown shops.
“Our little shops are unique, and have so many creative gift ideas for both presents and stocking stuffers,” said Riggs. “There are sure to be last minute deals for Christmas Eve shopping.”
The DBA businesses have also been taking advantage of online shopping and curbside pickup as a means to reach all of their potential customers, said Riggs, and have focused a lot on online marketing through the holiday season to enoucrage people to shop local and support their community.
“I’d like to thank those locals that have supported our downtown business, and who will continue to support us going forward,” said Riggs.
Last minute Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers can still be purchased from our local shops found both downtown and in the Carson Mall, so make sure to get there soon before the deals are over!
