Carson City School Board to host special meeting on next steps for Superintendent
Following the refusal of the employment contract by supervisor-select Dr. John Goldhardt, the Carson City School Board will hold a special meeting to discuss next steps on the selection process.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 6 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Robert “Bob” Crowell Board Room inside the Carson City Community Center.
A discussion and possible action will be held regarding the next steps in the search for President Richard Varner selecting the Carson City School District Superintendent resulting from the withdrawal of the application of the previously appointed candidate.
The Board will discuss whether to reopen the recruitment process, offer the position to the second choice of existing applicants using the contract terms previously approved, or take some other action aimed at filling the Superintendent position.
Approval of offering the position to the second choice applicant would have a fiscal impact up to $170,000 plus the cost of benefits attendant to the position.
The runner up candidate is Carson City local Andrew Feuling, Carson City School District’s Director of Fiscal Services and Chief Financial Officer.
Feuling has been with the school district since 2014 and oversees the school district’s budget including all measures of accounting, debt management, labor negotiations, and more.
