A suspicious package found Monday afternoon in the 1300 block of Highway 395 in Gardnerville has prompted the shut down of the highway in Douglas County near Waterloo Lane.

• A female Douglas County resident in her 50’s with connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 80’s with connection to a previously reported case.

At 4:49 p.m. Carson City firefighters were dispatched to a dumpster fire on E. Fifth Street near Carson Meadows.

According to the reporting party, a wooden garbage container is on fire and is approximately two feet away from a structure.

According to the report, Allen Lee Parkins and Kesa Dawn Pascal were arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies after deputies spotted Parkins and Pascal leaving a hotel known for “heavy drug traffic.”

The fire is reported to be behind the Ron Woods Center with multiple bushes and shrubbery on fire.

Finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 10,748 for the week ending June 6, down 589 claims, or 5.2 percent compared to last week’s total of 11,337.
