A suspicious package found Monday afternoon in the 1300 block of Highway 395 in Gardnerville has prompted the shut down of the highway in Douglas County near Waterloo Lane.
Efforts are underway to determine what the package or item found is. A drone was activated and the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad has been called.
Businesses in the area of a shopping center were evacuated and residents have been told to stay indoors as the Douglas County Sheriff's Office tries to determine what the item is, according to The Record-Courier via Twitter.
The incident was reported before 4:30 p.m. Nevada Highway Patrol has also responded and reportedly Lyon County Sheriff's Office has been called to respond.
Motorists are being re-directed around the area. People are urged to avoid the area. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
