An unprecedented group of Lake Tahoe destination management, land management, and non-profit organizations launched the Lake Tahoe Destination Stewardship Plan on Tuesday with the signing of an agreement to create the first destination stewardship council for the greater Tahoe region.

Prior to the last day of school, Carson Tahoe Health, a not-for-profit locally owned healthcare system, donated two Stryker Pro Form hospital beds to the Carson City School District. The beds, valued at $15,000 each, will be used to treat students in the Health Office at Carson High School.

Build2Win is sponsoring a dialogue with Supervisor Lisa Schuette on growth management. Growth Management Committee was initiated in 1978 in response to growth that was pressuring the City’s ability to provide critical services and infrastructure. This Committee regulates residential growth by limiting the number of building permits for residential units each year in Carson City.

Stella Thornton, surrounded by other youth legislators, gathered around Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo’s desk on Thursday as he signed SB80, a bill Thornton said has been her life for the past two years.

My Goddaughter Ryan Terrian for her 18th birthday wanted to go to the Reno Rodeo and to the Basque fry lunch. As an interested 18 year old in politics she was thrilled to hear Republican speaker Ron DeSantis and liked what he had to say. She was lucky to get a photo op with him afterward. Her 18th birthday was a success!

Truckee Meadows Community College political science professor Fred Lokken will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. Prof. Lokken will give his expert analysis of the recently concluded 82nd regular session and special sessions. He will also look ahead to the 2024 election season.

On Wednesday, June 21, at 7 pm, Reno resident and longtime Nevada historian, Tamera “Tammy” Buzick, curator of the Bowers Mansion Museum, presents a lecture of the life of Eilley Orum Bowers and the Bowers Mansion.

The Brewery Art Center is getting a major facelift.

According to Director of Operations Mikey Wiecek, the main building known as the Brewery Building was built in 1864, and recently received a historic preservation grant to restore and repair the exterior walls at a cost of over $300,000.
