In a remarkable interfaith gesture, leaders of various religions and denominations are gathering to welcome the Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance on July 27.
This will bring diverse leaders of Christian (various denominations), Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Native-American, Baha’i, Pagan, etc., faiths and police together to work for the common goal of creating peace in the community. Even the atheist leaders will be invited in this invitation only gathering in India Kabab & Curry Restaurant in midtown Reno.
Religious statesman Rajan Zed, who is the chief organizer of this unity event, hopes that it will help establish a positive bond between law enforcement and religious leadership aiming to bring the community together for the common good, and jointly work for achieving harmony in the society.
Zed feels that this type of gatherings cultivate communication and trust between two important pillars of the society, effectively resolve community concerns, serve as a catalyst for positive community growth, etc.
Although we belong to seriously different traditions, but are passionate to address community issues and seek cooperative solutions and effectively resolve community concerns. Moreover, this effort will bring cops and clergy together, aiming at overall welfare of the community and showing a way on how best to “protect with respect”; Rajan Zed adds.
