Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

The Carson City Council of the United States Navy League will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Carson City NUGGET Casino, 507 N. South Carson Street. This is a temporary change in venue! Unfortunately, the Gold Dust West was already booked for the 19th. The Social hour will start at 5:30 PM and Dinner will begin at 6:30PM.

The Carson City Special Enforcement Team, in conjunction with a Carson City School Resource Officer, made two arrests on Wednesday, Feb. 5 involving two 16-year-old juveniles.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for information in attempting to identify two suspicious males. On Feb. 3, 2020 the two subjects knocked on a Carson City resident’s door off of Silver Sage Drive during the day and then damaged their truck with a large knife.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Thursday afternoon to a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle near the intersection of West College Parkway and Oak Ridge Drive.

When half the cast of “Murder on the Oriental Rug” bails out, the remaining performers are stuck playing all the roles. During the first act, you’ll meet a Shakespearean actor with a drinking problem, a washed-up former child star, a bimbo with a short memory, and a hapless costumer who finds herself onstage — playing a man.

Fortunate Strangers is a West Coast band featuring Scottish and Irish songs. The band combines the experience of three performers from the San Francisco Bay Area and the High Sierra. They will be performing Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Matthew DeFalco, Nevada State Director of Deval for All, the presidential campaign of former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. This is the last in a series of lunch hour presentations by campaign representatives meant to give Democrats still undecided ahead of Nevada's precinct caucuses a chance to weigh the candidates' positions on a range of issues and ask probing questions on topics of special interest.

The next Carson City School Board meeting will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 11 in the Sierra Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street beginning at 7 p.m.

Topics for discussion include proposed changes to school social workers, suicide prevention, a proposed salary increase for the superintendent and more.

Three were arrested Wednesday by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team for suspicion of drug trafficking after a vehicle search at the Department of Parole and Probation led to the discovery of 14.9 grams of methamphetamine.

The Thursday, Feb. 13 hike is at the Clear Creek Trail, lower end. Meet at the trailhead for the Clear Creek trail, 1/2 mile west of Jacks Valley Elementary School on Jacks Valley Road, 1.8 miles west of Hwy 395.

A new Yogurt Beach location, which offers endless combinations of mix-and-match frozen yogurt and toppings, is opening up on Highway 50 East near the Dutch Bros. coffee stall and Port of Subs.

As part of its celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint — Mint 150 — the museum is hosting Kids Minting Days on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8-9. LAKE TAHOE, Nev. — Construction is set to begin in late May on the renovation and re-imagination of facilities at Spooner Lake State Park west of Carson City. A collaboration between Nevada State Parks, Nevada State Lands and the Tahoe Fund has been successful in securing funding and donations to complete plans for the 35-year-old park.

The Carson City Sheriffs Office will be continuing to enforce speeding laws and educate drivers stopped for speeding. Simply stated in Nevada Revised Statute 484B.600, basic rule for speeding: It is unlawful for any person to drive or operate a vehicle of any kind at a rate of speed greater than that posted by a public authority.

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is currently investigating the deaths of two Damonte Ranch High School students. While the cause of death has not been determined for either student, the Office says the deaths are being investigated as possibly drug-related.
