The Brewery Arts Center is committed to the safety and well being of the citizens of Carson City and with the rapid spread of Covid-19, we are taking certain precautions. Please note the following changes in schedule:
The Artisan Shop will be closed this weekend and we will be sanitizing the art and surfaces, making them safe for when we re-open.

In typical Nevada fashion, there are weather advisories for both fire and snow on the horizon, really cementing in the apocalyptic mood of our current times.

There is a fire weather watch in effect from 2 p.m. Friday through Saturday afternoon due to strong winds and low humidity for all of Western Nevada.

Southwest winds increase today ahead of the oncoming storm hailing from the pacific. Strong gusty winds continue into Saturday with some lower humidity during the day on Friday.

Winds will weaken some for Sunday, but should remain gusty.

A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Airport Road and Woodside for domestic battery first and obstructing a public officer.

According to the report, the man was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic battery in progress. Dispatch advised that the suspect was hitting the reporting party.

On March 12, three Carson City teenagers were reported as runaways. Thanks to the quick work of law enforcement, all three have been recovered safely.

First and foremost, Virginia City is open for business. Tourism is vital to our state and to our community. We depend on our visitors to shop in our merchant stores, eat in our restaurants and stay in our hotels.

With the health and welfare of our attendees, vendors, residents and Storey County community being paramount, it is with deep regret that we will be canceling our annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry and St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for assistance in locating runaway juveniles.

UPDATE 4:06PM: Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) held a press conference Thursday afternoon regarding the first reported presumptive positive case of COVID-19, which is this first reported case in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties.

The patient is a woman in her 70s who recently traveled out of the state to San Jose and returned on March 2. She flew on an airplane into Reno-Tahoe International Airport while she was asymptomatic. The plane or airline she traveled with was not disclosed during the conference.

Consistent with other precautionary measures in place to limit those coming to and from the hospital and other clinics, Carson Tahoe Health has suspended its volunteer operation for the time being due to the coronavirus threat.

The Carson City School District will "aggressively disinfect" its schools beginning Friday through Monday in an effort to minimize illness regarding the coronavirus, according to Superintendent Richard Stokes.

According to the report, the man was arrested after he called 911 stating that his PTSD medication was out and that he wanted to go to Mallory, but he did not want to kill himself.
