Warm weather and cool fishing is expected this week along the many lakes, rivers and streams in Nevada, Northern California and the Sierra. Here is this week's fishing report for the week of July 25. As always, pack plenty of sunscreen, abide regulations and have your fishing license with you.

This is the last of a four part series on our 2012 adventure in the Yukon, and this article is about our fishing experiences in that part of Canada.
One of the few remaining items on my personal “Bucket List” had been to catch an Arctic Grayling in the Far North, and that goal was finally attained, while traveling for six days in the Yukon back country with our longtime and good friends, Barry and Susan Drury of Watson Lake, Yukon.

RENO – Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney went on the attack against President Obama today in a speech to attendees of the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention here, criticizing him for national security leaks, weak foreign policy and a failure to seize on political opportunities in such countries as Iran.
Romney, speaking to the same group that Obama addressed on Monday, spent his 27-minute talk focusing on his foreign policy views and the need to maintain a strong military presence.

RENO – President Obama told members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars today that he has fulfilled the promises he made four years ago to make America safer, strengthen jobs programs for returning military personnel and fight homelessness, suicide and posttraumatic stress disorder among the nation’s veterans.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office will be conducting a DUI saturation patrol in central Carson City throughout Wednesday. These patrols are expected to be conducted in the future on evenings when dispatch receives a high number of alcohol-related calls.
The Sheriff's Office urges those who have consumed alcoholic beverages to use a designated driver or call a taxi.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies have arrested the following individuals based on gross misdemeanor or felony allegations:
- An unidentified man (John Doe) was arrested at 2 a.m. Saturday morning near the Blue Bull for gross misdemeanor allegations of battery on an officer and misdemeanor allegations of obstruction. Another man was arrested at the same time for obstruction. Bail is set at $3,000 plus administrative fees.

Overnight rain helped reduce the spread of the Springs Fire in Douglas County to only 30 acres, according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
The fire consumed 1,000 acres yesterday, but no structures were lost. The fire is officially only 5 percent contained, but they have reduced staffing to one engine and two hand crews.

Not really, but it is nice to get some mid-summer rain. I'm sure the firefighters working on the Springs Fire east of Gardnerville are happy for the showers. And the rain did a nice job of taking the smoke out of the air. Carsonweather.com reports that we have had .09 inches of rain so far today. What a way to start a week.
