A motorist suffered minor injuries after accidently driving their SUV into Wells Fargo Bank on Stewart Street in Carson City Monday morning.

The accident happened at around 11 a.m. The motorist, believed to be an older adult, wasn't seriously injured likely because the airbag deployed. At the time of this report the motorist had declined going to the hospital.

Mike Beck brings cowboy songs and the tradition of storytelling through music to Café at Adele’s Thursday, Aug. 22, as the Summer Concert Series on the Veranda continues.

A favorite performer on the Cowboy Poetry circuit, singer-songwriter, poet and working cowboy Beck is touring in support of his album “Tribute,” which showcases original horse songs written through the years, raising money for The Joyful Horse Project, a non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas that pairs combat veterans with rescue horses being trained for rehabilitation.

A vehicle chase that began in Douglas County ended on the Carson City I-580 freeway Sunday night with male suspect being flown by Care Flight after the vehicle he was driving crashed into the median.

According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were pursuing the vehicle after Douglas County authorities alerted them to the chase that crossed the county line at around 8:45 p.m.

An underage "shoulder tap" operation conducted recently by the Carson City Sheriff's Office of 40 businesses that sell alcohol netted one non-compliance, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

The shoulder tap was done Thursday, July 25 where individuals were asked by an underage decoy to purchase alcohol for them. The decoy informed those asked that he/she was underage and could not purchase the alcohol. The decoy was assisted by two Sheriff’s deputies who oversaw the operation. Also during this time, alcohol compliance checks were done at local establishments that sell alcoholic beverages.

Here is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report for the week of July 29 through August 4. There will be work on the south shoulder of U.S. Highway 50 between Airport Road and Fairview Drive. No delays are expected.

Slurry seal activity will continue in the area bounded approximately by King Street to the north, Terrace Street to the south, Carson Street to the east, and Longview Way to the west. There will be temporary road closures in this area while the work is being done. Delays are expected.

A 22-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday evening for filing a false police report.

According to the arrest report, the woman claimed her boyfriend and his brother came to her residence and cut her legs several times with a box cutter. Though the reporting party did have cuts on her legs, she also has a history of mental health issues that include cutting herself and blaming others. Because of her prior history of making false claims, she was arrested for misdemeanor filing a false police report. Her bail was set at $500 plus fees.
