The Carson City man arrested Thursday on child-pornography charges is a former substitute teacher.
But contrary to Thursday’s decision by a magistrate, Marcus Gabriel Henderson won’t be let out of jail pending trial on the charges.

Carson City Little League is registering players for the 2013 Fall Ball Season. Boys and girls age 4 to 18 are welcome to play.

Carson City is being featured on C-SPAN network's two channels this weekend after their visit to the capital city last month.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Carson City from July 8-12 to feature the history and literary life of the community.

Here is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report for the week of Aug. 5-11: Slurry seal activity will continue on Monday, August 5, and Tuesday, August 6, on streets east of Edmonds Drive in the area bounded by Fairview Drive to the north and Koontz Lane to the south.

There will also be slurry sealing on Waterford Place and Derby Court on Tuesday, August 6. There will be temporary road closures while the work is being done. Delays are expected.

A small child in a stroller was reportedly struck by a vehicle in a Carson City crosswalk Friday night across from the Warren Inn on North Carson Street. A Care Flight air ambulance was called but canceled after it was determined the child, after being checked by emergency personnel, was not seriously hurt.

The child apparently suffered a bump to the head and an ambulance was called at the father's request, according to emergency personnel at the scene.

All-Star Weekend was a huge success for the Northern Nevada area. The Fanfest festivities were a great way to kick off the big weekend. The events included appearances by former San Francisco Giants JT Snow, Robb Nen, Steve Finley, and Jack Clark. There were great interactive things for the fans to do as well: Batting cages, test your pitching speed, see how fast you could steal home, and my favorite thing was the whiffle ball home run field they created in the Reno Events Center.

A motorcyclist was severely injured in an accident at Saliman and Fairview streets this afternoon, according to Carson City sheriff's patrol officers on the scene via dispatch. Care Flight transported the patient to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

The motorcyclist sustained an injury to his leg, which was reportedly "cut in half," according to emergency personnel on the scene via police scanner. Law enforcement officers tell Carson Now that the injuries sustained involve significant trauma to the leg, which was broken, and a significant laceration.
