While statewide gaming profits were down by 4.8 percent in June, Carson City area casinos saw a 2 percent increase over 2012 figures, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reports Friday morning.

Carson City casinos, which include Garderville, Minden and Topaz, took in a gaming "win" of $8,396,690 for a 2.03 percent increase compared to June 2012. Carson City area casinos are down in gaming profits by 1.56 percent for the fiscal year.

A 79-year-old motorcyclist was flown by Care Flight on Friday morning after colliding with a horse in the area of State Route 341 and Industrial in Lyon County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at 7:46 a.m. The injuries the man sustained are unknown at this time. The horse fled after being hit, said NHP Trooper David Gibson.

The state route was reopened after Care Flight landed and the motorcycle was removed.

In my opinion, a parent’s consistent and regular positive attention to and engagement with their child is the single most important aspect of the parent – child relationship. Nothing says “I love you” or “you are important to me” more than that one on one time. It is the cornerstone of attachment and bonding between the child and parent. That positive attention says to the child “you are safe and secure”, “I am here for you”, “I value you”.

The Carson City Special Enforcement Team made a significant drug bust Thursday night that resulted in three arrests, 2.6 pounds of methamphetamine valued at around $67,000 seized, along with around $3,600 in cash, night vision goggles and a gun silencer.

A Carson City man has been arrested on child pornography charges, accused of secretly videotaping female victims in the bathrooms of his home.

Nevada's US Attorney says 33-year-old Marcus Gabriel Henderson was arrested by Special Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his residence in Carson City.

Enough is enough…..

Major League Baseball needs to set an example this time when it comes to Alex Rodriguez and the other players that are involved in this whole entire Biogenesis situation. It should be a lifetime ban for Rodriguez. I don’t think it will come to that unfortunately but that is what the punishment should be. With all that Alex has done to deceive baseball, the players, and the fans he should never be allowed to be in the game again.
