Mark Amodei (NV-2) met Wednesday with top officials from the U.S. Department of the Interior to discuss actions that can be taken to help prevent the Endangered Species Act listing of the sage grouse, as well as the negative impact such a listing would have on the economic growth and development of the Silver State.

One person has died in a three-vehicle head-on crash Tuesday night near Cave Rock on Highway 50, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that a 3-year-old girl died from injuries sustained in the accident. An NHP spokesman could not confirm the age or identity of the victim.

The Carson City Library will host dulcimer musicians In Stride on Saturday, 2 p.m. August 3, at the BRIC, the Business Resource Innovation Center, 108 E. Proctor in downtown Carson City.

Carson City Dulcimer and Friends will perform in cooperation with Jazz & Beyond, the 2013 Carson City Music Festival.

Come and enjoy these musicians as they entertain using the dulcimer, an acoustic instrument, known for its soft, mellow sounds.

Carson City School District will be offering free full-day kindergarten beginning this fall at all elementary schools. Registration begins Aug. 6 from 8:30 to 3 p.m. and continues daily.

The full day, student-centered kindergarten is aligned Common Core state standards and offers activities paced to fit the development needs of young children. Funding for program is provided by the Carson City School District and passage of measures during the 2013 Nevada Legislature.

Carson City authorities arrested a 20-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man on Tuesday who were involved in a car theft from the parking lot of Burger King on Monday.

Kayla M. Robbins was jailed after surveillance video obtained showed her taking a Honda Civic on Monday at 7:53 p.m. from the restaurant at 3589 North Carson Street. The vehicle belonged to the restaurant manager.

Robbins allegedly walked past the unattended, unlocked car parked outside the main doors, got inside and sped away, according to the arrest report.
