This year's seminar is packed with speakers not to miss. Catered breakfast from LA Bakery and lunch at the Carson City High School Greenhouse (following a tour), catered by the students at the Culinary Arts Program is included for the all day seminar for $75.

A Carson City man on probation and with a n outstanding warrant for his arrest faces felony drug charges, including intent to sell after authorities found 3 grams of MDMA, also known as "Ecstasy" or "Molly" and several empty pills capsules during a search of his apartment.

Mark Emory Samuels, 27, was arrested Friday, Nov. 1, 8:18 p.m. in the 400 block of East Long Street.

According to the arrest report, officers with the Special Enforcement Team made contact with the man at his residence on a confirmed warrant from Carson City Justice Court for violation of a suspended sentence.

A 46-year-old Carson City woman faces a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and two misdemeanor battery charges after allegedly chasing her husband with a knife.

The woman was arrested Nov. 2, 12:52 a.m. in the 2900 block of Kitchen Drive. Carson Now is withholding the name of the woman to protect the identity of a 15 year-old-daughter, who was pushed by her mother, and another daughter who used a smart phone camera to video the incident.

UPDATE: A Carson City man with a Civil War era cannonball informed the Carson City Sheriff's Office Monday that he didn't know if it was live or not. As a precaution, a bomb squad from Douglas County and the Fallon Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit were called to do an x-ray on the metal ball casing, described by the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad as a military munition.

The owner of the military cannonball munition said he had it for 20 years, said Todd Moss, commander of the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad. "What we know about (them) is they have the potential for being deadly."

A cement truck overturned Monday morning blocking westbound traffic on Fairview and the I-580 off ramp in Carson CIty.

The driver of the truck was injured and will be transported via Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
The accident, reported at around 8:40 a.m. is blocking the westbound and eastbound lanes of traffic.

The cement truck is spilling fuel and other liquid onto the roadway, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office personnel on the scene.

Among the Carson City and Carson Valley runners finishing Sunday's New York City Marathon were: Brett Long of Carson City who placed 284 with a time of 02:50:20; Linda Biaggi, of Minden, placing 19,076 with a time of 04:08:04 and Lisa Schuette of Carson City with a time of 04:19:58 which placed her 24,116.

UPDATE: A woman described as white, heavy set and wearing a black puffy jacket with a hood attempted to rob the 7-Eleven on Carson Street near College Parkway and a few minutes later attempted to rob a nearby Burger King in Carson City on Sunday night. The woman remains at large, confirmed Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

According to United States census data, the largest Chinatown in frontier Nevada was situated on Carson City’s southeast side of town. Perhaps for a few years in the mid-1870s when Virginia City’s population was at its height did the overall number of its Chinese residents exceed that of Carson City.
