I’ve been watching my lemon cucumber leaves turn speckled, yellow, and then brown. Initially, I thought squash bugs were sucking the juices out. However, when I tapped a damaged leaf over a white sheet of paper, and looked through my trusty magnifying glass, I saw moving dust particles on the paper. Those “particles” are actually tiny spider mites.

Not Quite Ready for Carnegie Hall Players, is a program of the Carson City Symphony Association for adults who recently began to play—or returned to playing — string instruments. Weekly sessions are on Thursday mornings beginning August 31, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, east entrance.

Carson City’s Thursday Nite Cruisers have been celebrating vintage cars for the last nine years, gathering at venues around the town on Thursday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. We do not charge an entry fee, or a club fee. We get together to visit about our beloved vehicles, to pass on good/bad experiences with mechanics, upholsterers, electrical people, what cruises, shows are coming up.
