Some of us are not as wise as others, and some are not as old as others, but all of us can agree that killing each other to solve our problems is out of date.

Not that long ago we could grab an adversary by the beard and slap some sense into him, but that problem solver is outdated today when we can simply blow him up with a drone along with his immediate family and any neighbors who might casually know him.

I was thinking that autumn was supposed to be a slower time of year for landscape and gardening chores. I have so many tasks lined up, I don’t know where to begin — fertilize the lawns, shut down the garden, finish picking apples, prune trees, decide whether to deadhead perennials or not, shut down the irrigation system, and winterize the tools and machines.

Various Carson City arts groups have long wanted to bring artistic expression to the downtown through mural art. There have been a few murals painted here and there over the years; however, much of that art has been overpainted leaving blank slates.

I took some pictures using my Nikon point and shoot camera from my driveway in Carson City on Saturday. I held a pair of the solar glasses in front of my lens to protect the camera. It was a bit awkward but worked.
