The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has identified the two deceased females that were discovered dead in Voltaire Canyon on Thursday, Dec. 6. Next of kin notifications are complete.
The women are Monique Evans, 20 and Sandra Leggett, 24. Autopsies have been performed on each.

A Carson City woman faces misdemeanor charges of property destruction and violation of bail conditions after she allegedly threw rocks at a vehicle, breaking a windshield.

Officers were dispatched to College Parkway and Emerson Drive for a report of a woman without any clothes on who had a stick and was hitting various objects, according to the arrest report.

CARSON CITY – Nevada casinos took in $978.8 million from gamblers in October, eking out a modest 1.9 percent increase over the same month in 2011, the Gaming Control Board reported today. It was the third consecutive month of modest gaming wins for the state.

For the 2013 fiscal year that began July 1, the gaming win has increased 4.6 percent.

A Gardnerville woman is recovering from mild frostbite at a Carson City hospital after spending six nights in Hope Valley.
Gardnerville resident Paula Lane, 46, and boyfriend Roderick Paul Clifton, 44, were reported missing after they left Citrus Heights, Calif., on the afternoon of Nov. 29.

Carson City's annual Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights has become so well received over the years that the 2012 festival will now run for two days. The enhanced event is tonight, Friday, Dec. 7, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ice skating continues until 10 p.m.

Tonight's night's festivities begin on the capitol grounds with the state tree, a bristlecone pine, and downtown Carson City being lit along with a procession including Santa, Mrs. Claus and the 300 voices of the Carson City 5th Grade Music Students Singing Ensemble.

Santa Claus Photographs will be available with the jolly man himself! Located inside the Best Buy Carson Store, the Brewery Arts Center will be taking photographs in celebration of the season!

The Carson City group of Fighters Against Child Abuse has announced their creation of "The Baby Cabinet" The creation of this program, initiated by FACA Vice President Lori Primak is designed to help struggling families due to unemployment, not qualifying for assistance under strict guidelines and awaiting determinations.

A Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 5, and faces a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice with a warrant for his arrest out of Los Angeles on a drug charge that dates back to March 1993.

Jeffrey Jason Defalco, 40, listed as a postman for his occupation, was arrested shortly after 8 a.m. near Silver Sage and Koontz. Defalco was stopped for speeding when radar clocked him going 37 mph in a 25 mph zone, according to the arrest report.

UPDATE 5PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong reports the investigation continues after this morning's discovery of two women found shot to death in Voltaire Canyon west of Carson City. A handgun was found nearby.
"We are not at this time looking for a third person," he said. The investigation is, so far, not being ruled a homicide or a murder suicide, he said. "We will wait for a ruling as the investigation continues," Furlong said.
