Drug crimes, burglary, child neglect and a third DUI offense made up the bulk of this weekend's felony-related arrests, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies report.

Two men were arrested Sunday and face felony charges after attempting to steal air compressors from a vacant Carson City building. Arrested were Geoffrey Earl Meudt, 39, of Gardnerville and Steven Walter Cozad, 30, of Wellington, Nev. Both are being held and face charges of being in possession of burglary tools and gross misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to commit theft.

A 4-year-old Gardnerville boy died in an accident Sunday in the 900 block of Cavelti Road in the Spring Valley area south of Gardnerville, the Douglas County Sheriff Office reports. The boy has been identified as Mason Geist, authorities said.

Deputies responded at 3:45 p.m. to 980 Cavelti Road in the Spring Valley area on the report of a vehicle accident involving the injury of a 4-year-old boy, said Douglas County Undersheriff Paul Howell.

Western Nevada College Softball Coach Leah Wentworth said her team exhibited a bit of a split personality in its home doubleheader Friday, Feb. 22, against Colorado Northwestern Community College.

In the opening contest at Edmonds Field in Carson City, the Wildcats led for much of the way and ultimately grabbed a 4-2 victory in six innings. But in the nightcap they were unable to manufacture hits while the Spartans got the hot hand, dominating 9-1.
