A Reno man faces several misdemeanor charges after Carson City authorities found him in an empty lot siphoning gasoline from a work truck.

The 34-year-old man was arrested at 1:09 a.m. Dec. 18 in the 300 block of Hot Springs Road and faces charges of petit larceny, gross misdemeanor possessing burglary tools, possession of stolen property, tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chris Ault has been a very successful coach for Nevada. Yet, every time Nevada Football has a ‘less-than-impressive’ finish to the season, some fans call for him to leave or be relieved of his position.

Let’s take a look at just exactly what Ault has done for the Nevada Football program:
He has been the Head Coach for 28 seasons. In those seasons he has compiled a 233-109-1 overall record. Ault has only had three losing seasons. Three. He has led Nevada to nine conference titles. Under his belt, Nevada has been to the postseason 17 times and that includes a current 8 year streak.

Nine school violence prevention researchers and practitioners nationwide have developed a position statement released nationwide Wednesday regarding the Dec. 14 Connecticut school shootings.

The statement has been endorsed by more than 100 organizations representing more than 4 million professionals, including Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. It is in response to the tragic acts of violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School and updates the School Shootings Position Statement released nationally following the school-related shootings of 2006.

Carson City School District Superintendent Richard Stokes issued a 1 minute 47 second audio statement to parents Tuesday night via email providing an update on school safety measures, including safety drills, being taken within the district.

Working in conjunction with the Carson City Sheriff's Office, there will be added police presence at all the schools leading up to Christmas break, Stokes said. Deputies will be patrolling parking lots and side streets "in show of both strength and support."

Café at Adele’s in Carson City hosts a Rockin’ Apocalypse Party, Friday with live music by The Mighty Surf Lords.

“Someone posted a picture of a bunch of alpacas in a field with a message about celebrating the ‘Alpacalypse’ and I thought, ‘Well maybe we should,’” said Charlie Abowd, Café at Adele’s chef and co-owner. “There has been a lot of stress and heartbreak this year and it is healthy at times to come together with good music and community to celebrate our blessings rather than continuing the fear.”
