When Gov. Brian Sandoval’s administration relented to public pressure and released agencies’ full budget requests, the total was stunning - $419 million, a 6.5 percent increase over what agencies had officially requested under Sandoval’s strict limits.

A snow storm blasting Lake Tahoe and the Sierra should arrive in Carson City and the valley floor this morning or sometime this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

A Winter Storm Warning runs from 10 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, with 4 to 8 inches of snow expected, and 6 inches to a foot in areas above 5,000 feet west of Highway 395 and the Virginia City Highlands.

"Looking at it right now, there's a better chance for snow (in Carson City) this afternoon into early evening," said National Weather Service Meteorologist Mark Faucett.

Here is the Carson City road maintenance and repair report for the week of Dec. 24-30. A sidewalk project will continue on Silver Sage Drive in the between Sonoma Street and Stafford Way. The work will primarily be on the side of the road, but minor delays are possible.

On Monday, Dec. 24, sidewalk maintenance will continue at the intersection of Carson Street and College Parkway. Traffic control will be in effect and minor delays are possible.

A woman died Friday and two were injured in a vehicle accident east of Joy Lake Road on State Route 431, Mount Rose Highway, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. and closed the highway for more than an hour. The woman's name has not been released pending notification of family members.

A Carson City couple face multiple felony burglary charges after authorities found thousands of stolen items valued more than $300,000 inside their home. The discovery, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, is likely the largest burglary ring foiled in at least 10 years.
