CARSON CITY – Rep. Joe Heck, R-Nev., announced today he will back a spending reduction plan put forth by House Speaker John Boehner because it proposes a balanced budget amendment that will protect the United States’ AAA credit rating.
A vote on the plan scheduled for today was delayed, however.

CARSON CITY – State officials and lawmakers are rejecting the suggestion that they acted improperly last year when fees generated from several college savings programs were shifted to shore up the cash-strapped Gov. Guinn Millennium Scholarship for academically eligible Nevada high school graduates.
But one former lawmaker, who voted for the transfer, acknowledges he remains concerned about the decision.

Nevada Highway Patrol reports that Gardnerville resident Terry Lyn Elmer, 46, was killed yesterday when the commercial vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a Ford truck towing a trailer on Highway 395.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested a woman Wednesday evening for her third DUI offense since 2008.

According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a blue Toyota Prius driven by Monette Martin, 52, drive through the road closed barricade at the corner of Saliman and Robinson streets. After stopping her, the deputy reported that he smell alcohol and gave the suspect a field sobriety test, which she wasn't able to complete satisfactorily. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol level of .127.

With our summer temperatures currently in the 90-100 degree range around Carson City, it is unbearably hot for this poor, sweltering soul.
I am a winter person, not a summer person, and do not like hot weather!
Thank goodness for those of us who live in this part of the United States, we can temporarily escape that miserable summer heat by finding coolness at the higher elevations of our nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains.
