Nine fire agencies from four Nevada counties and one California county have agreed to adopt and implement a standardized apparatus and station identification system. Fire agencies from Douglas, Carson City, Lyon, and Storey counties in Nevada, and Alpine County in California, will be implementing the new system starting Oct. 1.

CARSON CITY – Brian Sandoval became the first governor in the nation to be “taken for a ride” in Google’s self-driving car.
Sandoval went for a ride in the modified Toyota Prius from the capital city halfway through the Washoe Valley before returning to the Department of Motor Vehicles office where the car and a duplicate were on display.

CARSON CITY — The state’s chief election official says special measures are needed to ensure proper administration in the upcoming special election.
An emergency regulation prepared by Secretary of State Ross Miller and enacted today will guide the reimbursement of costs incurred by the counties for the September 13 special election for Nevada’s second congressional district.

Brian Sandoval’s reluctant decision to support an extension of tax increases to balance the state budget in the 2011 legislative session does not appear to have caused him any lasting damage in the eyes of voters, according to the results of a recent survey by a GOP polling firm.

A 29-year-old Carson City man faces a felony charge of false identification after he allegedly used his brother's identification when bail was posted.
Daryl Jacinto Reyes, with a listed occupation as a tattoo artist, reportedly gave authorities his brother's name, date of birth and Social Security number because he had a warrant in the state of Oregon for not checking in with his parole and probation officer after he moved to Nevada, according to the arrest report.
The bail was posted by Reyes sister-in-law, who had intended the bail money, $489, to be used for her husband.
