Northern Nevada film screening to celebrate 50 years after shattering one glass ceiling

At a church in Philadelphia, a group of eleven women were ordained to the Episcopal priesthood in violation of the constitution and canons of the Episcopal Church — which at the time stated that only men were eligible for ordination. This story is told in a compelling new documentary The Philadelphia Eleven.

Lyon County Human Services, DCFS, Juvenile Probation, the District Attorney’s Office and other groups works diligently, on a daily basis in an attempt to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Carson City teacher cuts hair in heartwarming gesture for children with cancer
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 04/02/2024 - 2:10pmWhen Eagle Valley Middle School English Teacher Michaela Filocamo learned her 5-year-old nephew was diagnosed with Leukemia, she felt impressed to make a bold statement in his name to honor and support him and other children battling cancer by donating her hair and funds raised (by her students, families and school colleagues) to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation. In total, $1,520.50 was raised.
