A fast moving storm will bring periods of light snow above 6,500 feet Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

A new policy issued this week by Gov. Joe Lombardo’s administration functionally ended more-lenient remote work guidelines for state employees, reverting back to pre-pandemic norms 11 months after Lombardo initially moved to send workers back to the office.
Douglas commissioners ban vacation home rentals north of Cave Rock at Lake Tahoe

Douglas County Commissioner Danny Tarkanian asked for a ban of vacation home rentals in all areas north of Cave Rock State Park on Nov. 2, and in two meetings, the ban is now complete. The issuance of permits will end on Dec. 31, 2024, after the passing of a new ordinance.

Carson City Sheriff's Office to do second December alcohol compliance check

Thursday, Dec. 28 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with Partnership Carson City, will be conducting an alcohol compliance check. Minor decoys will be sent into local businesses in Carson City that have liquor licenses. The decoys will attempt to purchase alcohol, using their real identification.
UPDATE: Father and teen daughters reported missing since Christmas Eve have been found

A father and his two teen daughters, who left the Yomba Reservation near Gabbs on Christmas Eve bound for the Yerington, are missing.

RNR Tire Express coming to Highway 50 in Carson City

Those driving up and down Highway 50 East in Carson City recently may have noticed some new construction going on in front of the Tractor Supply.
The building, which is working on constructing its exterior currently, will become a new RNR Tire Express when completed.
18-year-old jailed for DUI, drives wrong way on Carson City freeway with 2 teens on board

An 18-year-old man was arrested early Saturday for suspicion of DUI after driving the wrong way on I-580 with two 16-year-olds in the vehicle, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
